Maitree Club Report 2019-20 Maitree Club is an enabling unit of our college, whose prime objective has been to make Divyang Jan[students/teachers with disability] both self-reliant and contributing members of the society. The committee lays special emphasis on social awareness regarding disability, so that Divyang Jan could feel comfortable with other students/teachers. Some of the salient features of the work done during the session 2019-20 are mentioned below: o Celebrated World Deaf-Dumb Day on September 24th, 2019. On this occasion, Professor Monika Bansal delivered a motivational lecture, and informed students about importance of sign-languages. o Arranged an invite-lecture on October 16, 2019. Professor Ramniwas, former Chairperson of Dept. of English, Kurukshetra University, expressed his valuable views on the topic “Social Attitude towards Disability”. Simultaneously, Professor Sushama Sharma, former Chairperson of Dept. of Education, introduced our college students with World Cane Day. o Apart from it, all the members of Maitree Club have been working perseveringly in a positive direction since inception of this unit. For example: Sitender, Assistant Professor in English, helped visually impaired students in learning Braille, and gave them training of using DAZY Players. Unfortunately, the impact of COVID 19 crisis cast its evil influence on our activities from the latter half of March 2020. But still we tried hard, and reached to our students through various platforms.
